Hector Heredia-Alamo was convicted in May of rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office said.
The sentence is the end of a legal saga that began in December 2020 when Holyoke police arrested the man after a young child told family members that Heredia-Alamo was sexually abusing their older sibling, officials said. The family went to the police immediately after learning of the assaults.
Heredia-Alamo knew his victim and abused them multiple times over two years, the prosecutor said.
The victim and their younger sibling who witnessed the abuse testified in the trial.
